Rihanna Pledges Massive Help For Bahamas Amidst Dorian Devastation

Rihanna made a huge pledge to help the Bahamas in their time of need.

The Barbadian singer, songwriter, record producer, businesswoman, fashion designer, actress, and philanthropist, Rihanna, showcased that she also has a heart of gold once again. She recently vowed to help the Bahamas with relief efforts after the country was devastated by a hurricane for almost two days. Hurricane Dorian tore through the island, destroying everything in her path. The storm rampaged the Bahamas with Category 5 winds up to 185 mph (295 kph) and relentless, unyielding rains, flooding neighborhoods and destroying or severely damaging properties an infrastructures. Preliminary estimates are that nearly half the homes in Abaco and Grand Bahama, which have 70,000 residents and are known for their beautiful marinas, lush golf courses, and all-inclusive resorts. Officially the death toll is at 7, but that number is expected to rise.

After numerous videos and photos of the utter and complete disaster circulated all over social media and on several news outlets, the singer shared how she felt about the disaster. She tweeted, It truly breaks my heart to see the complete devastation that #HurricaneDorian is having on the Bahamas!. She later posted another tweet vowing to help, “You are in our prayers and @ClaraLionelFdn is already figuring out how best we can help! #HurricaneDorain #Bahamas” Rihanna started the Clara Lionel Foundation back in 2012 in honor of her grandparents.

The Foundation was setup to support and fund groundbreaking and effective education, health, and emergency response programs around the world, according to its official website. Current programs or projects include primary and secondary education programs in Malawi, Senegal, and her birthplace Barbados.

Rapper Ludacris also posted a similar message to his Instagram. He posted a photo on Instagram with the visual, “The Proceeds From This LudaDay Weekend Will Go To Helping The Relief Fund For Hurricane Dorian In The Bahamas! #LudaCares.”

The post was captioned, “Over 100k Raised over The Weekend!! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT!! NOW WATCH ME WORK!! #givingback @ludacrisfdtn #ludadayweekend2019 Thank you to the Partners.”

The U.S. Coast Guard, in collaboration with Britain’s Royal Navy and relief organizations including the United Nations and the Red Cross joined the rapidly increasing effort to rush food and medicine to survivors and lift the most desperate people to safety by helicopter. The U.S. government also dispatched urban search-and-rescue teams. The Bahamas needs all the help it can get, and it is definitely a blessing that Rihanna has pledged to help. This isn’t her first act of charity and certainly won’t be her last.

Back in 2017, Harvard University presented an award to Rihanna for her humanitarian work during their 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award ceremony. And she annually hosts a Diamond Ball to raise funds for her Clara Lionel Foundation. The ‘Fenty’ creator is always on the defense for immigration, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and impoverished countries. Rihanna always shows up for what she deems as important causes. And this time, she is showing out for The Bahamas.
