Birdman Dropping New Music With Original Hot Boys, Lil Wayne Announces New Album

Birdman says new music is coming with the original Cash Money Hot Boys the same week Lil Wayne says his new album is done.

Take us back to when Cash Money and the Hot Boys was taking over for the 99s and the 2000s. Birdman is doing exactly that as he announced new music coming with Lil Wayne and Juvenile. It is refreshing to see the group collaboration on new music together after Weezy and Birdman went through a lengthy legal battle that ended last year.

Birdman took to Instagram Wednesday to tell Cash Money and Young Money fans that new music is on the way. “UPTOWN LIVIIN LEGENDS #YMCMB #original HOTBOYS new music tomorrow @liltunechi@juviethegreat @birdman #RIDETHAT,” the caption read under a photo of him, Wayne and Juvenile.

The Hot Boys hit the music scene back in 1996 made up of New Orleans rappers Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk. Their hit single “I Need a Hot Girl” featuring Big Tymers Birdman and Manny Fresh dropped in 1999, the same year Wayne dropped “The Block is Hot.”

20 years later Weezy F. is still releasing projects and this week announced he will be dropping a new album by the end of 2019. The “Carter V” MC appeared on a New Orleans radio station on Monday and confirmed his new album, titled Funeral, is done and almost ready for release, according to XXL.

The host asked Wayne if fans would ever get the next sequel to the Carter series with a Carter VI, to which he replied he wasn’t sure. But he does know that Funeral will be here by the end of the year.

“My album’s always done; it just takes Mack [Maine] to come in there and wrap up a couple songs and name them,”  Lil Tunechi said on station Q93. “That’s how it go around here. I work every day. So it just takes them to come in and say, ‘Let me get these 20 songs. Can I have these?’ and they name them and then we go from there.”

Weezy fans should be happy that the living legend is free to release new music whenever he likes, starting with a new Hot Boys song dropping Thursday.
