Popcaan, Konshens, and Pamputtae are three other Dancehall artistes, in addition to Spice, who have announced that they will be giving back to their communities through their back-to-school treats this month, or, in the case of the Unruly Boss, his “Off to School” treat.

Popcaan‘s Off-to-School Treat and Fun Day is set for this Thursday, August 22 at the Rudolf Elder Park in Morant Bay and will begin at 11:00 am and come to a close at 5:00 pm. According to the artiste, the first 500 children will get a bag of back to school supplies courtesy of the Popcaan Care Foundation. Other activities include face painting raffles, clowns, train rides, and carousels. Refreshment will also be provided.

“Carry your kids n have fun. Hope to see the whole of St. Thomas out on this day!!!” Popcaan noted on Instagram, where he also posted the event flyer.

St Thomas residents were very happy for the gesture and showered the superstar with outpourings of gratitude, some lauding him as St. Thomas’ hero.

“At least the children have something to look forward to. We a St. Thomas always leave behind and forgotten. Few opportunities here. Not even political help. So bless up on your move and much thanks for the help bredda. Hope some other sponsors make it spontaneous and even increase the amount of backpack and stuff for the kids, cause u know it ago overwhelming and a nuff mother u ago mek get a new bag fi dem yute. Blessings,” Sanette Brooks said.

“This is very nice. You see this man right here name Popcaan, he’s the realiest. Not only he’s a talented bless individual, but this man has a great heart. This is one of the biggest reasons he’s my favorite artist out there right now. He always remember his hometown never forgets where he come from. He love his fans and supports others and I’ll always support him back to the fullest. God continue to bless Poppi and the whole unruly squad,” niquebless said.

Konshens will have his treat, dubbed Sports Day and Bike Show Edition, on Sunday, August 25 at the Sherlock Playfield in Kingston. The artiste will be providing school supplies, book list vouchers, and school fee vouchers as well as free rides and refreshment all day.

While his fans who responded to the post sang Koshens praises, Seafarer Advocate sought to provoke the artiste and chose to write: “Konshens, please dress in a normal attire, no blouse, no bore nose (remove the earring please). Thank you sir!”

Pamputtae also announced that her First Annual Back To School Treat & Fun Day will be held on Thursday, August 29 under the Pamputtae Single Mother Foundation at the Fletcher’s Land Square.

“Lots of give-aways for the first 100 children; bounce about, trampolines, rides for the kids; free food, back to school supplies snow-cone, popcorn, ice cream and more. Special guest artistes from 12pm-8pm,” her notice read.
