Koffee, Cocoa Tea and Marion Hall Performed At Independence Day Grand Gala

The final event of the week-long gala was grand indeed. The night started with a good vibe as we rocked to performances from the likes of Cocoa Tea, Marion Hall and of course the entertainment from the traditional Gala dancers and light show.

Sizzla Kalonji made quite the entrance when he had 120 motorcycles enter the dome of the National Stadium with him. The event’s honoree sat on the back of one of the motorcycles and waved to fans seated in the grandstand and bleachers. The motorcyclists put on a thrilling bike show displaying some risky stunts and tricks as well.

Sizzla and Rita Marley both accepted the gala award in honor of their contributions to the music. After Sizzla’s heartfelt acceptance speech and performance, the show continued to ascend to its climax.

Beenie Man took the stage next and had 10 minutes to perform before the crowd favorite emerged. Fans of the dancehall veteran were visibly enjoying the show- they danced and sang along as Beenie performed his old hits.

Next came the event closer, Koffee. The 19-year-old Reggae star gave a vibrant performance to the patrons in the national stadium. As she stayed energetic on her feet around the stage, it was clear that she aimed to please every member of her audience with engagement. Her endeavor was not futile as event-goers, both young, old, and adolescent were dancing to her music. Every song excited the crowd, and every chorus was a sing-along. Koffee saved her ‘Toast’ for last, and she was joined on stage and surrounded by the Gala dancers who helped close out the show.

The light show was visually enthralling at the gala’s end. The national flag beamed from the stadium grass as fireworks lit up the sky in a truly grand fashion.

Happy 57th Independence Day Jamaica Land We Love.
