Cardi B Gave Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders Some Strength With Young Voters

Cardi B is back in her political bag, this time with the help of Bernie Sanders.

Cardi B and 2020 Presidential Candidate, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders teamed up Monday to film a campaign video to help inform young voters, according to CNN. At the beginning of July, the Bronx rapper took to Instagram, prompting her fans to send her questions that they would want to ask Democratic candidates in regards to the 2020 election. She never elaborated on what she was using those questions towards, but it was a major clue that she had something up her sleeve.

On Monday evening Cardi posted a photo of her and Bernie Sanders wrapping up their video shoot. “A couple of weeks ago I asked my followers if you had the opportunity to have a question answered by a democratic candidate what would it be?” she wrote in a caption. “I got a lot of submission[s] and selected the most popular questions to get answered.”

Bernie Sanders told CNN that he and Cardi are working together to get a younger demographic interested in politics. “We (are) working on a way to involve more young people in the political process. The future of America depends on young people. They are voting in large numbers, but not large enough numbers,” he said.

On July 16, Cardi tweeted out her support for the Vermont Senator to become the next president saying she felt as though the country let him down in the 2016 election. “This man been fighting for equal rights, HUMAN rights for such a long time. Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign.” A few days later Bernie Sanders told talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he and Cardi had spoken on the phone many times and that he was “delighted” to have her support.

The “I Like It” rapper said Monday that the two will fight for economic, racial, and social justice for all.

No word yet on when the video Q&A will be released. The 26-year-old rapper has built up a history of speaking on politics and speaking out against President Donald Trump. On Sunday, Cardi posted a video pleading with bloggers and media outlets to focus more on the democratic candidates and less on President Trump’s controversial term.
