Jamaica Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness is touting this year’s Reggae Sumfest as one of the most successful stagings of the show.

The Prime Minister made a post on IG, where he noted that this year is the biggest Sumfest he has ever been to in terms of crowd size.

“Reggae Sumfest has proven beyond a doubt that it is indeed the greatest Reggae show on earth,” he said. “A powerful endorsement of Jamaica’s rich musical heritage, the performances, the production, the execution reinforced our widely acknowledged musical prowess.”

“I was impressed with the huge turnout of both local and international patrons and I am assured that with first class events such as Reggae Sumfest Jamaica will be the entertainment capital of the Caribbean,” the PM added.

PM Andrew Holness added that music is an important part of the tourism sector since thousands of people travel to the island each year to attend Reggae Sumfest and other similar shows.

“For more than 25 years, Reggae Sumfest has earned a reputation as the Caribbean’s premier music festival, showcasing Jamaica’s rich and diverse culture,” Holness wrote. “The success of last weekend’s festivities reinforced the fact that music continues to be an important value-added component of the tourism sector. Indeed, this festival is a very good example of the overall experience of our culture.”
