Beyonce, Blue Ivy & WizKid New Song “Brown Skin Girl” Broke The Internet

On this day in history, Beyonce, Blue Ivy Carter, and WizKid broke the internet because of a song titled “Brown Skin Girl.”

The Beyoncé curated new The Lion King: The Gift album is here, and fans are already picking their favorite records. Of course, the standout record is one that features JAY-Z and Bey’s 7-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who holds down the intro and outro. The track “Brown Skin Girl” also features WizKid and SAINt JHN. The 15th record on The Lion King soundtrack encourages brown girls everywhere to love the color of their skin.

Beyonce, who stars as Nala in the new live-action film, gave shout-outs to iconic women with darker complexions like actress Lupita Nyong’ o, former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and model Naomi Campbell.

“Pose like a trophy when Naomis walk in/ She need an Oscar for that pretty dark skin/ Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in/ Drip broke the levee when my Kellys roll in/ I think tonight she might braid her braids/ Melanin too dark to throw her shade/ She minds her business and winds her waist/ Gold like 24k, okay,” Beyonce sings.

Blue Ivy’s impressive vocals – she’s also listed as a writer on the song – coupled with Beyonce’s affirmation to darker-skinned women across the world to see themselves as beautiful despite societal norms had the internet in a frenzy Friday morning.
