Popcaan Channels Reggae Icon Garnet Silk In “New Found Love” Prod. By NotNice

Popcaan channels his inner Garnet Silk in his new song, “New Found Love.”

Popcaan has been killing the game this year with a ton of new music that showcase not only his work ethics but also his versatility. This is perhaps the first time that we’ve heard Popcaan put his vocals to the test as he dropped off a cover of late reggae icon Garnet Silk’s classic single “New Found Love.” The track was produced by NotNice who is currently prepping his new album King Midas, due on July 17.

NotNice explains that Popcaan called him while the deejay was in Trinidad for a show and told him about the idea. “He just called me and asked to have the riddim ready when him reach Jamaica,” the producer said. “I contacted Clive Hunt and got the musicians together, and the rest is greatness (not history). Popcaan’s voice on the track blends naturally and people have been giving it some good feedback since we previewed it about a week ago.”

NotNice continues, “This is the first time Popcaan is doing a cover and also the first time people really get to hear him on a reggae riddim, even singing.”

The new track will be featured on NotNice’s King Midas album, which is a project dancehall fans have been looking forward to hearing this year. The veteran producer says he already completed the project which is now available for pre-order.

Popcaan and NotNice found a hit and a possible new and different vibe dancehall fans are yearning for this summer.
