YNW Melly could get the death penalty if found guilty of murder.

The Miramar rapper is currently behind bars awaiting trial for double murder. According to authorities, YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, and YNW Bortlen, real name Cortlen Henry, shot and killed two of their friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy). Cops say the Melly Bortlen shot and killed Williams and Thomas in October last year before driving around with their bodies in a car then dropped them off at a local hospital in Miramar.

YNW Melly and his co-accused were charged with first-degree murder and could get the death penalty if convicted. The two rappers are mounting a high powered defense as they both proclaimed their innocence.

Williams’ family told TMZ through an attorney that they would fully support Demons getting the death penalty. “If the state of Florida feels the death penalty is warranted in this case then we 100% fully support it,” the statement reads.

YNW Melly, 20, remains incarcerated in a South Florida Jail. A judge denied him bond, which means he will like remains behind bars until the conclusion of the case. “YNW Melly should feel the exact fear and panic he so viciously and consciously brought upon his innocent victims,” the Williams family added in their statement.

Melly also has a tattoo of Williams’ mother on his neck. You can see her name “Jana” tattooed on his neck in his mugshot.
