The incarcerated rapper is facing a double-murder charge, and now a Florida prosecutor is asking for him to get the death penalty if found guilty. The move stepped up the pressure on the rap star’s legal team to win the case or possibly strike a plea deal.

YNW Melly’s biggest hit to date is his breakout single “Murder On My Mind” and prosecutors are now alleging that the lyrics paint a vivid picture of his murderous plot to kill his two friends. His father Donte “Tha Gift” Taylor released a new song titled “Melly On My Mind” where he raps about being YNW’s father and proclaiming his son’s innocence. Urban Islandz could not determine for sure that Taylor is YNW Melly’s birth father, but sources are saying that he is including another man who posted a video saying that he grew up with Taylor and Melly’s mother.

Last week, YNW Melly’s mother, Jamie Demons-King, broke down in tears on Instagram Live when she got the news that her son could get the death penalty. , but some fans criticized her while asking where is her remorse for the victims and their family.

YNW Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, will be standing trial for capital murder and prosecutors say they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he and his associate YNW Bortlen, real name Cortlen Henry, killed their two friends, Christopher Thomas Jr., 19, and Anthony Williams, 21. A trial date is not yet set.
