Spice Says “Romping Shop” Why She So Loyal To Vybz Kartel Talks Skin Bleaching On Fox 5 New York

Spice says she will always be loyal to Vybz Kartel.

The Queen of the Dancehall appeared is the latest dancehall artist to appear on Fox 5 New York. During the sit down with Lisa Evers, Spice opened up about her loyalty to Vybz Kartel and her recent controversial skin bleaching stunt. Spice is arguably the leading female artist in dancehall. Her work ethic has earned her a place among the males in the male dominant genre of hardcore dancehall music.

“A lot of people always question me ‘why so loyal to Vybz Kartel?’” she said. “Even now when he is incarcerated a lot of people did expect me to stay saying big up the Worl’Boss and a Gaza me say. I remember being at home and Vybz Kartel call me and said ‘Mumma me find the song.’ So for me I treasured that, he could’ve chose any other female artist, but he was the one who called me, he was the one who wrote that song, put the idea together, choose the riddim and do everything. He kind of gave me that big giant jump in dancehall music to put me on a certain level internationally.”

Spice new mixtape Captured is now out on all streaming platforms, and you can catch her on the new season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
