Ne-Yo and Tank have had enough of R. Kelly amidst the Surviving R. Kelly documentary drama.
More and more celebrities are speaking out against R. Kelly after Lifetime aired its Surviving R. Kelly documentary series. The six-part docu-series has been making headlines since premiering on the network last week. John Legend, who was the only major celebrity to appear in the documentary, has been getting praised for his bold stance. Since then, celebs like Jada Pinkett-Smith and others have been speaking out.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, R&B singer Tank call out R. Kelly, his management team, record label, and anyone doing business with him for enabling what he has been doing for years. “I lot of artists, songwriters, producers, record execs, etc are very confused as to how to respond to what they’ve seen and heard,” Tank wrote.
The R&B crooner continues, “We’ve all been inspired by this man. We’ve all been witnesses to his musical genius. We have shaped and molded talent we sign after his musical image. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into this man that it’s hard for us to let go. I no longer have that issue. I whole heartedly apologize for not coming to this realization sooner. I CANOT separate the music from the monster!”
Right after Tank made his lengthy post, another R&B singer/songwriter, Ne-Yo, added his voice to the mix. “There is NO excuse,” he wrote. “Music is important. It really is. But it’s not more important than protecting our children, protecting our little girls. PERIOD. #IHaveADaughter #TF!?? #MUTERKELLY”
