Ninjaman continues to do his charitable work for his community even from behind bars.
Before going to prison, Ninjaman was very active in his community with a lot of charitable initiatives. So it was a big blow to his community when he was handed down a life sentence for murder in December of last year. Rather than focus his entire attention on his legal troubles, Ninjaman is instead putting on a charity event on August 17 and a number of dancehall artists will be turning out for the event.
A rep for the dancehall legend confirmed with Urban Islandz that the event called Jamboree will be a day and night event at Hyde Park football field on Hyde Park Road, Kingston 11. Ninjaman Foundation is organizing the event. Artists like Beenie Man, Tommy Lee Sparta, Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Ding Dong, Capleton, Busy Signal, and more will be performing. Fans should go out and support the event.
Ninjaman was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ricardo Johnson who was shot and killed at a house in Marl Road, Kingston 13. Johnson, who is known in the community as Ricky Trooper, was gunned down by Ninjaman, his son Jameil, and another man, over a domestic dispute.
Ninja, whose real name is Desmond Ballentine, says he will appeal the conviction. He would have to serve 25 years before being eligible for parole.
