Pusha T’s “Daytona” Debuts At No. 3 Despite Drake’s Beef

Pusha T’s new album Daytona debuts at number three despite his beef with Drake.

There is no doubt that the feud gave him an extra push in terms of his streaming numbers and sales, but it wasn’t enough to give him the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. Pusha T dropped the album, Daytona, just a week ago and in that said week he released the vicious diss, “The Story Of Adidon,” aimed at Drake. The song dominated the media all week, but all the extra attention and promo from it didn’t translate into better numbers.

The album Dayton sold 77,000 album-equivalent units with 39,000 units being traditional album sales. That number was predicted from the first weekend of the project’s release which means the beef which ignited in the middle of the first week didn’t trigger an uptick in consumption of the album.

Pusha T did come out above A$AP Rocky whose new album Testing debut at number four on the 200 chart. That project sold 75,000 album-equivalent units with 13,000 units being pure album sales. This is the G.O.O.D. Music rapper’s second top ten album debut after his 2013 project My Name Is My Name debut at number four.

It will be interesting to see how, if any at all, the beef affect Drake’s upcoming album Scorpion, due for release sometime this month. Drizzy has not been seen in public since Pusha T dropped that vicious diss track which exposed his secret son. Makes us wonder if he has been locked down in the studio working on another diss track or just putting in some finishing touches on his upcoming album.

Whatever the reason for his M.I.A. is, that is not calming calls for him to respond to “The Story Of Adidon.” Some folks like Ice Cube are now saying that his reign in hip hop has now come to an end.
