Jah Vinci Says Popcaan Will Always Be Family

Jah Vinci and Popcaan recently link up on their new collaboration “Steamy.”

The two dancehall deejays both came from Vybz Kartel school and are former members of Gaza/Portmore Empire. But since Kartel disbanded Portmore Empire in 2012, the Jah Vinci and Popcaan have not recorded a song together and rarely if ever seen in public together until recently when that distance between them come to an end.

The two deejays have in the past worked on singles like “Home” and another anthem called “Life Lost,” but it’s been more than half a decade since they both appeared on the same track together.

Jah Vinci says they never really dropped the link and has always been friends that are like family. “Me and Popcaan never drop the link no matter what, from day one,” he said. “Last month, I called to ask how he was doing and him said I should link at his house and hold a vibes, and we up de; and knowing that we can always find the hits, it just happen naturally ’cause we a family, and the song voice and tek off.”

Since dropping the single “Streamy” a few weeks ago, Jah Vinci and Popcaan fans have been asking for the two deejays to work together more frequently. Perhaps that’s their cue to work on a joint album.
