Meek Mill Could Get Sentence Overturn Over Alleged Police Corruption

Meek Mill’s attorneys are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to secure his freedom.

The Philly rapper is almost three months into his 2-4 years prison sentence for probation violation but the #FreeMeekMill movement is still alive and well. The “Dreams and Nightmares” emcee could get a break in his case if this new report is accurate. According to reports, the Philadelphia District Attorney Office compiled a list of police officers last year that has a “history of lying, racial bias, or brutality, in a move to block them from testifying in court.”

Turns out the compiled list includes the officer who arrested Meek Mill in 2007, Reginald V. Graham. The exact reasons why he is on the list is unknown to the public, but an ex-police officer, Jeffery Walker, claimed that the two use to steal. “I would steal with Reggie Graham,” Walker said. “There was stealing in that whole squad, but these are people I was basically breaking bread with.”

Meek Mill’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, has already learned about the case and is actively pursuing all legal remedies to free the rapper using his new intel. He says there are an overwhelming amount of instances throughout the justice system where individuals are released based on police corruption.

“I mean, there were 800 cases that were dismissed or overturned upon discovery of this group of officers who had been committing crimes, lying about circumstances of arrests, and falsifying documents,” Tacopina told Complex. “One of the officers is the same one who not only arrested Meek, but made allegations that Meek has always denied. This is the only one that testified against Meek.”

Meek Mill has always maintained his innocence in his original case, he says he never possessed any drugs and never pointed a gun at any police officers. So if his arresting officer is found to be corrupt, then that could be a major breakthrough in his overall case. Let’s not forget he was on probation for many years and has been behind bars before now for probation violation.
