Drake One Song Away From Beating The Beatles Record

Drake is one song away from beating a 40-year-old record set by The Beatles.

It’s Drake season again. The Toronto rap star is breaking all types of records with his Scary Season EP released last month. The two singles on the EP, “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity,” have debuted at No. 1 and No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. These two songs gave Drake 20 top ten singles in the last decade tying with The Beatles. This means is Drizzy drops a new song tomorrow and it makes it to the top ten then he will be the first artist to have over 20 songs in the top ten in a single decade.

Drake’s journey started all the way back in 2010 when “Find Your Love” peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart. Since then he reached the top ten 19 more times equaling one of the world’s most iconic rock bands, The Beatles. Both his singles with Rihanna “What’s My Name” and “Work” have reached the No. 1 spot. His biggest run at the No. 1 spot came in 2016 when his dancehall single “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla topped the chart for thirteen non-consecutive weeks.

The Beatles is the only other act to amassed twenty top ten singles in a single decade and they did it even quicker than Drake. Still, the Toronto rapper has until 2020 to beat their record and something tells me he will do it this year at his current pace.

Drake shot the video for “God’s Plan” on Monday in Miami when he surprised students at the Miami Senior High School and the University Of Miami. The 6 God didn’t just shoot the video on campus, he also handed over a $50,000 scholarship check to a biology student and a $25,000 check to the high school. The “Diplomatic Immunity” rapper is currently working on his next album.
