Drake Cops 13 Billboard Music Awards Breaking Adele Record

Drake broke Adele record for the most Billboard Music Award trophies in one year.

On Sunday night Drake performed his More Life single “Gyalchester” at the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, but little did he know that he would go on to have one of his biggest nights of his careers in terms of awards. Last year the 6 God had the biggest album and the biggest song on the planet with his landmark project Views spending 13 non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The single “One Dance” spent a total of 10 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and 15 consecutive weeks on the UK Singles chart. The album received over 3 billion streams on Spotify alone last year and the single “One Dance” alone get over a billion streams.

Drake rocked up some big wins in major categories like Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Rap Tour, Top Rap Artist, and Top Streaming Songs Artist. Drizzy also won some awards for his landmark Views album in categories like Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Rap Album. His massive hit single “One Dance” featuring WizKid and Kyla won for Top R&B Collaboration, Top R&B Song, and Top Streaming Song. Adele previously held the record after winning 12 Billboard Music Awards last year. “Hold tight, Adele,” Drake said while accepting his award Top Artist. “When the new ting drops, you’ll get the record back.”

Drake also thank folks like Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne for helping him over his career. “I want to say, Nicki Minaj, I’m so glad we found our way back because I love you and I could never ever see it any other way,” he added. “I want to say, Lil Wayne, if it wasn’t for the risk you took, none of us would be here tonight.”
