Kendrick Lamar Rumored To Be Dropping A Second Album Sunday

Kendrick Lamar new album DAMN is the hottest topic in hip hop today, but there are talks that he could drop a second album on Sunday.

The rumors were triggered by a single tweet from TDE’s Sounwave who said that the project released last night was not the official version. “But what if I told you… that’s not the official version,” he wrote on Twitter. At the time that he sent out that tweet, there was a leaked version of DAMN circulating online and it seems like he was suggesting that that leaked version is not the official version.

Some fans are taking it a step further by suggesting that he might be releasing another album on Easter Sunday. There are a few working theories and hints that the second project is real, and given the prior secrecy around DAMN up until around a week ago, it could be true. One theory is that Kendrick Lamar died at the end of this new album and will be resurrected on Sunday in a new album. This project has a strong religious tone with singles like “God,” and “Blood.” The album was also released on Good Friday to marks K-Dot’s deep Christian roots.

Another hint that some folks are pointing is that Kendrick Lamar changes the color of the wall that he standing in front of on his album cover from red to blue. Red is the color of the Bloods gang and blue reference the Crip gang. The first single on the album DAMN is titled “Blood.” Last month, the Compton rapper released a new single “The Heart Part 4” where some fans are also drawing references to a few lines on that track where he raps about “I said it’s like that, dropped one classic, came right back / ‘Nother classic, right back / My next album, the whole industry on a ice pack.”

All of this could just be chasing down a rabbit hole or it could be true. We just have to wait until Sunday to see. Sounwave is an in-house producer at Top Dawg Entertainment.
