Wyclef Jean Says He Will Sue Police For Mistaken Arrest

Wyclef Jean vows to sue the Los Angeles Police Department following an embarrassing mistaken arrest on Monday night.

The former Fugee singer was placed in handcuff last night after he was pulled over by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies. The incident took place approximately 1:30 a.m. in the West Hollywood area of LA and things went bad pretty quickly. The singer was traveling with two females in his vehicle, one of whom was his manager, TMZ reported.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, Wyclef says that he was placed in handcuff for no reason even after cooperating with police officers. He said that cops took off his Haitian bandana and immediately put the cuffs on him while asking him for his name etc. But the Sheriff deputies have a different story. They are saying that the singer exited his vehicle as soon as he was pulled over and proceeded towards the trunk when they told him not to move. They say they also asked him not to put his hand near his waist band and he did anyway. He was also placed in the backseat of a squad car for security reasons, cops say.

This is what Wyclef Jean wrote on his Instagram account. “I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself and before being told why. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person. They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal. I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent. As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by the bahavior of the LAPD.”
