J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only” Album Has This Year’s Third Highest Debut

J. Cole is celebrating another milestone for his new album “4 Your Eyez” only after the project debut at No. 1 with this year’s third largest debut.

“4 Yours Eyez On” sold just over 492,000 copies in equivalent album units to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 album charts. Breaking down the numbers, the album sold 363,000 in traditional sales while making up the rest in streaming. The project was streamed 176,949,538 times in just the first week of release on Apple Music, TIDAL, and Spotify. The only other two albums to see bigger debuts this year is Drake’s “VIEWS” and Beyonce’s “Lemonade.”

Drake has the biggest album this year with over three billion views on Spotify and another billion on Apple Music. “VIEWS” sold 1.04 million copies in the first week of release. The Weeknd’s new album “Starboy” also saw strong debut with 348,000 copies sold in the first week.

This marks the fourth straight album from J. Cole to debut at No. 1 on the 200 chart.
