The Weeknd ‘Starboy’ Sets New Spotify Streaming Record For A Single Day

The Weeknd new album “Starboy” is already breaking records. The project set a new single day streaming record for Spotify.

Starboy” which is Abel Tesfaye’s sophomore project, was released on Apple Music and Spotify on November 25. The album is expected to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 chart with a projected 400,000 copies sold in the first week of release. The album broke Spotify’s one day stream record, Pitchfork reported.

The last artist to hold the record for the most stream in 24 hours on the music streaming platform is Justin Bieber. His album “Purpose” topped 36 million streams in the first day when it was released on November 13, 2015.

The album’s lead singles “False Alarm” and “Starboy” are performing very well on Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album saw guest features from Future, Daft Punk, and Kendrick Lamar.

In 2015, Drake was the most streamed artist on Spotify and this year he already surpassed 3 billion streams with his album “Views” and to top that off he has the most streamed song “One Dance” on the platform. It’s still Drake universe.
