PARTYNEXTDOOR is in a better place these days thanks in part to his work with Rihanna and Drake.

The OVO Sound singer sat down this week for an interview with both Rolling Stone and The New York Times where he opened up about his contribution to one of the biggest songs this year “Work” by Rihanna and Drake. The Toronto singer also his first time meeting Rihanna. PND is listed as a co-writer of the single which he alluded was originally written for Alicia Keys.

“Her label didn’t care for Caribbean music at the time,” he says while adding that he kept the song before giving it to Rihanna while she was working on her last album ANTI. On meeting Rihanna for the first time PND said, “The first feeling I got was, ‘Why am I here?’ All these guys have made hits already.”

PARTYNEXTDOOR is signed to Drake OVO Records and also opened up about being mentored by the Views rapper. “I openly share music with Drake, especially when it’s time for him to have a project,” he said. “I have an older brother I can text anytime, someone who’s super invested because my name is tied into his. It’s just creatives cooking. If he sees something in a song of mine that he feels he can spin around and make better, who am I to say I’m going to selfishly keep it? As a fan of music, that’s wrong.”

Party also spoke briefly about his controversial relationships with Kehlani and Kylie Jenner. “I’m grateful that really pretty girls like my music,” he said.

PARTYNEXTDOOR new album P3 was released last week Friday.
