The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Drake, Fetty Wap Leads Billboard Music Awards 2016

The Weeknd, Drake and Fetty Wap are the top three leading contenders for the most awards at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

The “Earned It” singer received a total of 19 nominations across 16 categories. Two other Canadian artists also received a ton of nominations. Justin Bieber got 12 nods and Drake equaled Fetty Wap with 11 nods.

In the pop categories, Adele and Taylor Swift received eight nominations each.

The Weeknd received nominations in categories including Top R&B Artist, Top Artist, Top Male Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist.

Billboard reported that the nominations were selected from a list of metrics including airplay, sales, social activity, streaming, and touring. All these metrics are taken from data between March 23, 2015 through March 17, 2016, as well as, chart information from April 11, 2015 through April 2, 2016.

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards will be held on May 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The show will be hosted by Ciara and Ludacris.
