Bill Cosby Charged With Sexual Assault Could Faces 10 Years In Prison

Bill Cosby will be criminally prosecuted and could face some jail time after being formally charged with felony sexual assault.

The charge came after Andrea Constand filed a report that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2004 while she was working as the operations manager for the women’s basketball team at Temple University employee, TMZ reported.

In 2005 she sued Bill Cosby and eventually settled the case out of court. The Montgomery County authorities also investigated her claims and eventually dropped the case citing inadequate evidence.

The case was reopened this summer by District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman after dozens of women came forward with claims that they were sexually assault and drugged by Bill Cosby. The District Attorney cited new evidence as the reason for reopening the case.

The statute of limitations law in Pennsylvania permits 12 years for felony sex crimes, hence the DA was running out of time to file charges. An arrest warrant has been issued for the comedian.

If convicted of the crime, Bill Cosby could face up to 10 years in prison.
