American Idol Marks The End, Show Announced Last Season

FOX has announced the end for American Idol amidst ratings woes after 15 seasons on TV.

American Idol was once the most popular reality TV show in the U.S. but over the years other music reality shows like The Voice and The X Factor has seen there ratings soar while Idol’s dwindled.

At one point American Idol average 20+ million viewers per season. But now the show is only getting a fraction of that viewership.

The show has also given rise to a number of big names in music today like Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson, and Fantasia Barrino.

American Idol also helped host Ryan Seacrest to become a household name. The hit music reality TV show also introduced Simon Cowell to America. The current judges are Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. But the show has previously saw big name judges like Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson.

On Monday FOX network announced that next season will be it’s 15th and final season on TV.
