Sting 2014 was a huge success for the promoters with record crowd turning out on dancehall’s biggest night.
According to Sting publicist Keona Williams, the show saw it’s biggest crowd since 2008 when the infamous clash between Mavado and Vybz Kartel took place.

She also attribute the show’s successful turnout to the inclusion of several reggae artists including Capleton, Tarrus Riley, Kabaka Pyramid and more.
“A lot of persons came in to see the reggae acts we added,” Williams said. “People like Tarrus Riley, Capleton, Iba MaHr, Droop Lion and Kabaka Pyramid pulled their own fans and helped to increase the attendance.”
This year’s lineup did not include some of the top acts in dancehall currently including Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Mavado, Aidonia and more.
Williams says Supreme Promotion instead focused their attention on young dancehall acts, as well as, some overseas acts.
“For example Ackee and Saltfish from Japan, have a huge following in their region and so they turned out for Sting like never before. Overall the lineup was simply dynamic and Sting is still the number one dancehall show on the planet,” she added.
Despite the record turnout, Sting 2014 got some bad reviews from some fans and was also disrupted by violence and bottle throwing.
