Vybz Kartel: Corrupt Juror Trial Postponed To May 30

Livingston Cain, the juror accused of bribery in Vybz Kartel murder case, has his trial postponed until May 30.

Cain, who is a 50-year-old football coach, appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, but Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn requested an additional three weeks to facilitate a requested from the defendant’s attorney to hand over evidence.

Livingston Cain cellphone was confiscated by police officers to be examined. The defense also want to have their expert examine the device.

The juror was on the 11-member panel that voted 10:1 to convicted Vybz Kartel and three of his four co-accused. He is accused of offering bribe to several members of the jury including the foreman, who he offered $500,000.

Livingston Cain is the only jury to return a not guilty verdict.

His trial will get underway on May 30 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison at hard labour.

Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, his protege Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John are now serving life sentences for the conviction.
