Yesterday, Joseph Simmonds, who is Digicel’s Group Business Risk Director, took the witness stand and told the court that he could not determine if any of the seized cellphones belong to Vybz Kartel or his co-accused.

Simmonds also told the court that he gave police officers two CDs containing data from Digicel regarding 40 cellphone numbers. He also handed over to officers a written statement.

Only one of the two CDs was available to be tendered into evidence yesterday. Simmonds told the court, when pressed by Vybz Kartel defense attorney, that lead prosecutor Jeremy Taylor had told him that one of the disc was lost.

Tom Tavares-Finson will continue his cross-examination of Joseph Simmonds today.

Vybz Kartel, legal name Adidja Palmer, and his co-accused Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, André St John, and Shane Williams are all on trial for the alleged murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Authorities theorized that Williams was beaten to death on August 16, 2011 at a house on Swallowfield Rd in Havendale. Police say he was killed over a missing firearm.
