Vybz Kartel murder trial

For several days now former head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Cybercrime Unit, Patrick Linton, has been giving testimony behind closed doors due to the national security sensitivity of the information he is providing.

Hilton’s testimony should be wrapped up today.

Group chief technology officer at telecommunications provider Digicel, Mario Assad, also took the witness stand to shed some light on some alleged text messages cops say they recovered from cellphones belonging to the accused men.

Assad told the court that he cannot determine if in fact those texts message did originate from those devices.

Update:

Cybercrime cop Patrick Hilton testimony will continue to tomorrow, Friday.

After over a week giving testimony behind closed door, the media and the jury are still not able to return to the courtroom.

Update:

Justice Lennoxx Campbell told jurors to return to court on January 6, 2014. The trial will adjourn tomorrow for the rest of the year.

  5. What impact on society social living on people especially in Jamaican

  6. A person of cartel caliber should not do these things a guy like that it is the I don’t know what to say but the environment the society people there’s a lot of discussion about, I don’t want to say free I’m being just am not taking anybody’s side. What contributions benefits society?

  10. So this means that texts messages which were supposedly sent from Kartel and friends cellphones do really exist. If this is the case then Kartel and friends are guilty until proven innocent because the coincidence and probability of sim cards being cloned soon after committing murder is so much impossible and let alone false and non existent in this murder case. Even if you factory erase data from a cellphone or messages on a sim card used in that cellphone there is ways that data can be re-extracted, but if the sim card was cloned then these text messages will not be available on the cellphones motherboard because that cellphone was never used to send such texts messages in the first place.
For help on this text messages matter the Jamaican police and cout need to call in the American Cyberforensics Experts, they will be given good help easy.

    • I think the defence attorney should invite American Cyberforensics Experts or take it to the higher court because what the prosecutions did is gather enough so call evident as Mr Assad told the court he cant determine of the cellphone originate from the devices close statement. remember the jamaica system is pretty much weak so prosecutions is trying their very best to find the innocent guilty and i think the judge is working with the police hypocritically so maybe they wuld try to prove him guilty.

      • What I am simply saying is that they need to re-extract all erased data from the handsets motherboards, not the sim cards. If they do that they will find their answer.

    • The cybercrimes investigator specifically said he cannot prove what device text messages originated from….Which means you cannot use them as evidence against the accused…
and they never specified what these alledged text messages that they cannot trace even said…so saying they are guilty until proven innocent is using a lot of assumptions.
