Usain Bolt had little competition but still put on a show at the London Diamond league on Friday (July 26).
Usain Bolt entered the track on a rocket that looked like it came straight out of a science fiction movie before sprinting the 100m in 9.85 second in front a sold out crowd at the Olympic Stadium for the Anniversary Games.
“It’s so wonderful to compete in London, it’s a brilliant experience to be here again,” Usain Bolt said. “My start was poor and I need to work on that. To make a perfect race I need to make a good start and just get into the race. Hopefully I can make a good time at Moscow and continue to do well.”
This month the sport has been rocked by several scandals after two of the top sprinters in the world, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell, were tested positive for a banned substance.
During a press conference, Usain Bolt insist that he is clean and put a lot of trust in the team around him.
This is what Bolt said:
“It’s going to set us back a little bit but as a person I can’t really focus on this,” Bolt said.
“I was made to inspire people and to run. I have confidence in myself and my team. I know I’m clean so I’m just going to continue running and try to improve the sport. That’s my aim.”
“It’s all part of the routine but you have to be careful as an athlete because there are a lot of things on the banned list. But I’m not worried because I have a great team around me.
“I make sure I’m careful, too, but you have to trust the people around you because they check everything you’re taking to make sure it’s not banned. I take vitamins. Every athlete takes vitamins but I don’t take any supplements.”
