Shortage Of Jury Stalling Vybz Kartel Murder Case

A jury shortage could forced more delays in Vybz Kartel murder case.

The high profile trial convened today in the Home Circuit Court where jury is expected to be empanalled.

However, only 20 potential jurors turned up for court where at least 54 is usually required.

The prosecution and defense lawyers has already challenged nine of the 20 jurors.

A 12 panel jury is needed for this trial.

The court is now out for lunch and will continue jury selection this afternoon.

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, along with Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald were all charged with the murder of Barrington “Bossue” Burton, who is a promoter from St. Catherine.

All three men pleaded not guilty to the charge.

If convicted Vybz Kartel could received 25 years in prison.
