LAPD Issue Apology To Biggie Smalls Family Over Leaked Autopsy Report

The Los Angeles Police Department LApD has issued an apology to the family of slain rap icon Notorious B.I.G just days after releasing his autopsy report.

DETAILS: Biggie Smalls Graphic Autopsy Report Leaked

Detectives from the LAPD says they release the report to the public to bring more attention to one of their most difficult cases. However, the move upset the rapper’s family since they were not notified prior.

“Due to an administrative error, the autopsy report was released prematurely,” the LAPD said in a statement last weekend. “Robbery-Homicide Division detectives had intended to notify Mr. Wallace’s family prior to releasing the report.”

Head of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, Capt. Billy Hayes, says detectives from the department spoke with Wallace’s family Friday night and apologize for the lapse.

“Our detectives personally spoke with the Wallace family (Friday) night, and apologized for not notifying them prior to the release” Hayes said. “Obviously this has been a challenging case for us to solve. We hope that witnesses or other people with information will come forward and give us the clues we need to solve this case.”

Biggie Smalls, real name Christopher Wallace, autopsy report was made public last Friday (December 7) via the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office 15 years after his murder.

Notorious B.I.G. was shot and killed in a drive by shooting on March 9, 1997 on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles. His murder is widely speculated to be linked to the death of rival rapper Tupac Shakur.
