Trey Songz Scores First Number Billboard Album With “Chapter V”

R&B singer Trey Songz is king of the charts this week with Chapter V, making it his first ever number one Billboard 200 album.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Songz fifth studio album sold 135,000 copies in its first week of release to kick 2 Chainz Base On A T.R.U. Story off the number one spot.

Trey Songz previous album Passion, Pain & Pleasure, which was released in September 2010, sold more than 240,000 copies in its first week, but that wasn’t enough to beat out competition for the number one spot.

Trey Songz thank his fans in a personal letter sent out by his management yesterday.

“I just want to say thank you for another opportunity to give each of you a part of me,” a very grateful Trey Songz wrote. “I promise to love, I commit to make a difference, and I will never take you for granted.”

2 Chainz debut album Base On A T.R.U. Story sold 48,000 copies in its second week of release to hold the number 2 spot on the chart. While DJ Khaled’s Kiss The Ring debut at number 4 with 41,000 copies sold.
