Rep For Beenie Man Deny Canadian Visa Cancellation

Self proclaimed dancehall King Beenie Man is again the subject of visa controversy, with reports that the artist was denied a Canadian visa.

Late last weeks news surfaced online claiming the doc was deny a visa to enter Canada for upcoming shows. However, a rep for the deejay told Urban Islandz “that is not the case.”

“There are some stories in the media that Beenie was denied a visa, I just want to clear that up because that is not the case,” the rep disclosed to Urban Islandz. “We got the visa too late only because the promoter send in their documents couple days before the show. There is no issue with Beenie Man and the Canadian Embassy.”

Initial reports suggests that the organizers was forced to cancel the show due to Beenie Man being denied a visa. A statement from the organizers back up the claim.

“Due to continued issues with Canadian Visa and Work Permit status for Beenie Man, we regretfully have to CANCEL this event. Beenie Man lost his US Visa last year and new Canadian regulations, implemented in April, have made it next to impossible for him to get a work permit for Canada. Please return your ticket to the person or location you bought it from for a refund. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our intention was always to put on a great event for the dancehall community and we are dismayed that things have turned out this way in the end.”

Beenie Man along with several dancehall artists are still unable to travel to the United States after that country cancelled their visa in 2009.
