Ne-Yo Talks Compound Island And Recruiting Fresh Jamaican Talents [Video]

R&B star Ne-Yo says he choose to launch Compound Island because he believes reggae music is on its way back to popular charts such as Billboard, and he want to be there when it rebounds.

In an interview with ER, the singer/actor says music genres goes through phases where they fades for a while and then rebound and reggae music is in its rebound period.

Ne-Yo said he is looking for fresh talent because he thinks younger acts are easier to mold into the new way of doing business.

“Absolutely fresh talent,” Ne-Yo said. “The children are the future, instead of coming in and trying to deal with a person or an artist that is kind of set in the old ways of doing things, we want to take it to the younger generation, and teach them the new way of doing things.”
