Nicki Minaj Confirmed For Reggae Sumfest 2011

Trinidad-American rapper Nicki Minaj is the first confirmed international act for this year’s highly anticipated Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

News reached Urban Islandz today of the developing and was later confirmed by sources close to the Young Money emcee. A member of the “Moment 4 Life” rapper’s camp told Urban Islandz she is excited to performed in Jamaica for the first time.

“It will be a busy summer for us with touring with Britney Spears and other shows,” the source told us on Twitter. ” But Nicki is always happy to perform in the Caribbean back to her roots, so she is definitely looking forward to performing for fans in #Jamrock”

Summerfest Productions, Johnny Gourzong, also confirmed that Minaj is on the roster for the festival dubbed the greatest reggae show on earth.

“Nicki Minaj, one of the hottest acts in the world right now, will also be treating her multitude of fans to a scintillating performance,” Gourzong said. “Last year we had a tremendous festival with great Jamaican and international acts. This time around patrons will again be treated to amazing performances with the likes of Mavado, I-Octane, Beenie Man, Jah Cure and so many other great artistes.”

Nicki Minaj is one of the most popular rappers in Jamaica now, with several of her hits banging in clubs, street dance and on radio rotation. No doubt she will pull a large crowd to International night 2, schedule for July 23rd.

Last year R&B stars Usher and Chris Brown performed at Reggae Sumfest. The festival will kick off on July 17.
