Vybz Kartel is perhaps the first major reggae/dancehall star to performed via satellite from Jamaica to an overseas audience.
Fans were well receptive of the embattled “World Boss,” who performed in true Vybz Kartel fashion. The dancehall deejay is currently in prison serving a life sentence. Following that performance just before the summer of 2011, Kartel got arrested and slapped with two murder charges in September of that year. He went on to be exonerated for one of the two charges but was convicted for the second.
