Breaking: Buju Banton Found Guilty

Embattled Reggae star Buju Banton was today found guilty in a drug trial that span over a year.

After two days of deliberation, the 12 member panel of jurors found the Grammy winning reggae star guilty on three of the four charges in the Sam M Gibbons Federal court in Tampa Florida.

Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilogrammes of cocaine, of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offence and using the wires to facilitate a drug-trafficking offence.

The artist was, however, found not guilty on charges of attempted possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Buju Bonton lawyer said everyone including Banton are emotional and disappointed.

“We are all extremely disappointed and emotional,” Markus said.

Buju Banton issued a brief statement through his lawyer David Markus:

“Our life and our destiny are sometimes pre-destined and no matter where this journey takes me, remember I fought the good fight,” said the artiste, real name Mark Myrie. It was a great man that said my head is bloody but still endowed I love you all thank you for your support.”

Buju Banton was taken to a lockup awaiting sentencing.
