Power rapper Kanye West was recently awarded the top spot in Rolling Stone’s 2010 year-end album issue.
West latest LP My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which came out November 22nd and received a five-star rating review from the magazine, sold almost 500,000 copies in the first week of its release.
Rolling Stone’s review of Ye’s album said that his project was filled with “music as sprawlingly messy as his life” and that songs on the project are “hip-hop epics…full of the kind of grandiose gestures that only the foolish attempt and only the wildly talented pull off.”
Kanye West album was also recent given the prestigious 5 Mic ratings from the Source.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy joins Jay-Z‘s The Blueprint, Stillmatic by Nas, The Fix by Scarface, Lil Kim‘s The Naked Truth and Bun B‘s Trill OG as the only albums which received five mics this decade.
