Buju Banton Security Detail Approved… Stephen Marley Post Bail

As anticipation builds for the release of embattled reggae superstar Buju Banton, his defense achieved another milestone today.

Marc Seitles, the lawyer representing Banton was able to secure approval for the security company to guard his home around-the clock. U.S. Magistrate Anthony E. Porcelli handed down the judgment today  in the Sam M Gibbons Federal Court in Tampa Florida.

The security company must also put up a separate $25,000 bond, keep Banton whose real name is Mark Myrie on house arrest at his home in Tamarac, fit him with a GPS monitor and install new locks and an alarm system at his house. Banton would not get the keys or the alarm code.

Stephen Marley Post Bail

Stephen Marley, the son of the late king of reggae Bob Marley, also today put up his Miami Dade County Mansion as security for the US$300,000 bond required to release Banton. Judge Porcelli also approve the use of the Gammy winning reggae star home.

Although this is another milestone reach, Buju Bonton is not clear to be release, as the prosecution is expected to file an appeal against the ruling.

The trial against the reggae star ended with a hung jury last month, after a lengthy deliberation.

Gargamel has been behind bars since his arrest in December of last year. He is now awaiting his new trial schedule to commence in December, just over a month from now.

If convicted Buju could face up to life in imprisonment and a fine of up to US$4 million.
