Mr. Vegas On Soul Train Nod, “I’m So Humbled”

Veteran dancehall deejay Mr. Vegas is one of the six nominees for this year Soul Train Awards.

Vegas who has had multiple successes on the Billboard charts over the years says he is hopeful that the recognition from Soul Train will place international attention on Jamaican music.

In a release to the media the dancehall heavy weight said he is humbled by the nod.

‘After years of hard work, I am so humbled and honoured to be recognized by the internationally renowned Soul Train Music Awards.  I wish all the nominees in the reggae category the best of luck and hope that we can continue to push reggae music to the masses worldwide’.

Mr. Vegas is expected to be in attendance at the awards show, which is to be taped on November 10 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

Vegas has been busy in the studios working on various projects for release in early 2011.  His most recent chart topper I Am Blessed continues to ride the Media Guide Reggae Specialty chart, where after 87 weeks of chart life, it bolted from 21 to number five. The song has already spent multiple weeks at the top of that chart.

Other nominees for the reggae Soul Train Awards are Vybz Kartel , Damian Marley, Jah Cure, Gyptian, Mr Vegas and Gramps Morgan.
