West Indies Cricketer Runako Morton Died In Car Accident

The West Indies Cricket community is mourning the death of Nevis batsman Runako Morton after he was killed in a car accident yesterday.

According to reports reaching Urban Islandz, Morton, 33, was driving a car when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole in central Trinidad on Sunday (March 4th).

The West Indies Cricket Board confirmed the news on Twitter today, when they send their condolence to Morton’s family.

“Our deepest condolences to Runako Morton’s family. Such devastating and tragic news,” the cricket board wrote on its official Twitter account.

West Indies former captian Chris Gayle also tweeted: “We lost a True Warrior. W.I Cricketer Runako Morton – May his soul rest in peace! Our memories together Live On! My Condolences to his Family.”

During his career with the West Indies team, Morton played 15 Tests, scoring 573 runs at an average of 22.03.

Runako Morton final appearance for the squad was against Australia in a Twenty20 international in 2010.
