Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion, Faces 3 Years In Prison [DETAILS]

Lauryn Hill could join several celebrities to be sent to prison for tax evasion after pleading guilty in court today.

Hill appeared in court today to answer to three counts of tax evasion charges. The former Fugee reportedly owes the IRS $1.8 million for tax returns from 2005 to 2007.

According to TMZ, Lauryn Hill faces three years in a federal prison and a fined of $75,000.

The rapper/singer was released on a $150,000 bail.

She returns to court in November for a sentencing hearing.

Earlier this month Lauryn Hill released a statement via her blog addressing her tax problems.

“For the past several years, I have remained what others would consider underground,” Hill said. “I did this in order to build a community of people, like-minded in their desire for freedom and the right to pursue their goals and lives without being manipulated and controlled by a media protected military industrial complex with a completely different agenda.”
