IRAWMA Awards: Junior Gong, Mr. Vegas, Tarrus Riley Biggest Winners

The 32nd annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) climate on Saturday at the Coral Springs Centre for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and there were some big winners and plenty loosers.

Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Mr. Vegas, and Tarrus Riley walked away the night’s biggest winners, taking home two awards each.

Damian Marley won the award for Best Crossover Song for “Make It Bun Dem” a collaboration with Skrillex.

The reggae royalty also won the award for Entertainer of the Year.

Dancehall star Mr. Vegas took home the awards for Best Music Video for “Bruk It Down” and Best Song for “Sweet Jamaica.”

“It’s a great feeling to know that when you put out the effort to make good music, it pays off,” Mr Vegas said.

Reggae crooner Tarrus Riley won awards for Most Cultural/Educational Entertainer and Best Male Vocalist.

Other big winners includes Jimmy Cliff, who won Best Album for Rebirth, and Etana, who won for Best Female Vocalist.
