Alexander Johnson, who is a witness for the prosecution, testified in court today (February 16) that there was no drug deal between himself and reggae star Buju Banton.

Under oath, Johnson told the court, during his cross examination by Buju Banton lawyer, David Markus, that on December 8, 2009 he and Banton never made any deal.

Video footage played in court showed Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, tasting a substance from a knife believe to be cocaine.

Johnson further told the court that it was Ian Thomas with whom he had brokered the deal, who he said kept changing buyers and the amount of drugs required.

However, during re-examination from prosecutor James Preston, Johnson disclosed that Buju Banton was a broker in the deal. Johnson said Buju never cancelled any deal or never told him that he never wanted to see his drug boat.

Today marks day 3 of the Grammy winning artist second trial in the Sam M Gibbons Federal Court in Tampa, Florida.
