This must be Lil Kim’s biggest rant about Nicki Minaj yet.
Lil Kim got carried away during an interview with Power 105.1 Breakfast Club this morning. The Queens rapper went through the long history of her beef with Nicki Minaj. Kim went on to accuse Cash Money Records of helping Nicki Minaj bootleg her style.
According to Lil Kim, Cash Money co-founder Slim swagger-jacked her style and gave to Nicki Minaj during a planned collaboration that was eventually shelved.
“She started releasing all these records doing her vocals the way I did my vocals. I played a record for Slim called “Automatic.” It’s a St. Tropez, dance type of record. Three years ago I played him this record. On her new album, she has a song called “Automatic” and the song is so similar to the song that I played for Slim.
“Whether my fans would have liked that sound or not, it was my sound. I brought that sound to the table. The problem with her is she was very catty with it. I never had a problem with her. I was always nice with her—always. She was a very obnoxious person, but I was always nice with her.
“Every single record she’s made was coming at me. Everybody who knows music knows in that Puffy record ["Hello Good Morning"] she was coming at me. I didn’t say nothing about this chick at the time. She was coming at me in all the records she was doing, the Jay and Kanye West ["Monster"].
“I’m not saying she’s a horrible artist, but I definitely think she’s overrated. She’s not a horrible artist to me at all.”

Beenie Man is currently at the receiving end of some bashing from hardcore dancehall fans for publicly showing his support for the gay community. But while some are criticising Beenie, many more are praising him for making a bold move to quash the long standing beef between gays and dancehall music.
Urban Islandz fans are asking us if Beenie Man did appeared on the RuPaul show back in the 1990s. The answer is yes, however, this does not mean Beenie Man is gay.

Rumors surfaced online earlier this week, claiming that the “So Special” deejay was axed from Cash Money Records. Mavado reportedly joined the label last month after Birdman bought DJ Khaled’s We The Best Music Group label.
Although information is still sketchy, sources inside the Gully camp told Urban Islandz that Mavado will be releasing a statement addressing the rumor.

AGSelectPR, Kingston, Thursday, May 17, 2012: Jamaican Crystal Powell wowed judges on Mission Catwalk episode eight with an avant garde, couture garment made from alternative material- old newspapers and materials from a hardware store. This is the second win for the 25 year-old who previously won the Flapper challenge on episode three.
For Crystal, the win was a confidence booster: “I got a chance to show the judges that I can be dramatic and over the top and very intense, moods I usually reserve for my poetry and drawings. Avant guarde is highly regarded in fashion, so for me it was a validation of my design acumen.”
Inspired by the Crusades, Crystal wanted her design to be pretty but unsettling to reflect “how something which purportedly started out with good intentions could have such devastating and ugly results. “
The garment’s top was made from newspaper with a unique amour-like stencil made by applying black spray paint over a polyflex sink protection mat. The collar and belt of the dress (made from folded newspapers spray painted in red) formed both a sword and cross. The skirt was made of cut newspaper folded into flower-like shapes, still using the same stencil pattern but this time sprayed in red. The bold and dark effect was accentuated by black flowers, lipstick and gloves. The purple feather earring and cobalt (blue) tights were used to incorporate the traditional colours of priesthood- purple, red and blue and continue the theme of the Crusades. Copper and steel wires added for further dramatic effect.
Crystal’s effort won her a feature in OCEAN Style Magazine. Guest judge and editor of OCEAN Style, Douglas Gordon thought her work was “creative, interesting, well-constructed and editorial-ready.” Equally impressed were the regular judging panel: Keneea Linton-George, host and executive producer of Mission Catwalk, Novia McDonald-Whyte Jamaica Observer Lifestyle editor and Carlton Brown, celebrated menswear designer.
Though Ryan Berkeley of Guyana did meet the challenge requirement, the episode five runner-up received the lowest score and was sent home. Of the remaining seven designers, three are Jamaican (Crystal Powell, Janel Jolly and Gregory Williams), two are from Barbados (Kesia Estwick and Kerin Scott) while Trinidad and Belize have one representative each in Ryan Chan and Rebecca Stirm. Mission Catwalk originally started with an all Jamaican cast, with season two seeing participants from five countries from around the region.
The series will climax with a grand showdown at Caribbean Fashion Week with the top three designers in June. To find out ‘Who will rule the catwalk?’, keep watching the show which airs Tuesdays at 8:30 PM on TVJ and is simultaneously streamed online at televisionjamaica.com/livetv.aspx. Episodes also repeat Thursdays at 5:30 PM. Presented by NCB, Supreme Ventures and Digicel, Mission Catwalk is now shown in six regional countries: Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Guyana and Belize.

Beenie Man is the first dancehall deejay to publicly declare his stance on the heated debate about gays and lesbians.
Yesterday rap mogul Jay-Z support President Obama’s stance on gay marriage in the United States. Now Beenie Man, who is one of many dancehall artistes facing problems with the gay community, has stepped forward to make his stance clear.
In a video posted on Youtube, the “Rum And Redbull” deejay says he is making the statement because the gay community still has beef with him.
“I get to understand that people are still creating problems for me to work,” Beenie Man said. “But let me make this clear and straight. I have nothing against no one. I respect each and every human being, regardless of which race, regardless of which religious belief you have, and regardless of which sexual preference you are, including gays and lesbians.”
Beenie Man laments that his issues with the gay community stems from some songs he did 20 years ago.
“Do not fight against me for some songs I did 20 years ago,” Beenie Man pleads. “There is no one in this world is the same as they were 20 years ago, I know I am not. I was a kid and I come from Waterhouse, which is a small community. I never know what the world is like and what the world is all about. But now I know that people live in this world that live their life differently from my life. I still have to respect and love human beings.”
