Artists Linked To Vybz Kartel Unlikely To Get US Visa

Earlier this week a Public Affairs officer at the US Embassy in Kingston revealed that artists Anti-gay lyrics does not affects their visa, but any form of criminal dealings will.

Public affairs officer at the United States Embassy in Kingston, Joshua Polacheck, specifically pointed to the Vybz Kartel case noting that any artists linked to the incarcerated deejay are unlikely to receive a visa. He also pointed to Jah Cure who has served time for a rape case while noting that he will never receive a visa.

“There are persons like Jah Cure, who committed crimes of moral turpitude who will never get visas because they have committed crimes of moral turpitude or connections to narcotics trafficking,” he said.

“Many artistes, I am sorry to say, who are connected to Vybz Kartel,” Polacheck added. “Many of the people that he worked with were not only musicians but were involved in the narcotics business.”

There are several artists from Vybz Kartel’s circle who are still without a U.S. visa including Tommy Lee Sparta. Vanessa Bling only recently received her visa and was able to tour the U.S. Popcaan has also been plagued by visa woes.

Up to the time of his arrest in 2011, Vybz Kartel was without a U.S. visa.
