Aaliyah Biopic: Timbaland & Fans Blast Lifetime

Timbaland leads a rebellion against lifetime last weekend after the network aired their highly publicised Aaliyah biopic titled The Princess of R&B.

The movie chronicles Aaliyah’s life from her first audition for R Kelly to her untimely death at age 22 in a plane crash.

Wendy Williams executive produced the film and cast Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp as Aaliyah.

But producer/rapper, as well as, a lot of fans were very critical of the movie and voiced their disgusts on Twitter and Instagram.

“Hope yall not watching this!!!!!!!!” Timbaland tweeted along with a photo taken from the movie.

Timbaland went on to post a series of memes and videos on his Instagram page laughing at the Aaliyah biopic.

“People, thanks for the comments tonight on that bullsh– Aaliyah movie. They have felt Timbo’s wrath tonight, baby, and that’s it,” Timbo said in a video posted on Instagram.

Timbaland was a close friend and a collaborator of Aaliyah. He produced songs for Aaliyah such as “If Your Girl Only Knew,” and “Hot Like Fire.”

Timbaland close friend Missy Elliot, also voice her opinion on the Aaliyah biopic on Twitter.

“@Timbaland no.. My prayers go to @Rad_6 & ma Diane to lose a sister & daughter then father they been thru so much,” she wrote.

Wendy Williams also commented on the movie on her show on Monday addressing the backlash.

“I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend! Errbody got an opinion,” the talk show host said. “Well, I must tell you, whether you loved or hate, you watched. It was the second-highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far.”
