Yesterday the court selected nine, four females and five males. However, Justice Lennox Campbell excused two men from those who were selected, one of whom is a musician and a caterer.

The other man told the judge that his job recently promoted him and he could loose that promotion if he has to do jury duties.

Two additional jurors were selected with three more still outstanding.

Justice Lennox Campbell also inquired about the crowns witnesses and was told by the investigating officer that four civilian witnesses will take the stand.

Senior Director of Public Prosecutions, Jeremy Taylor, told the judge that the prosecution is ready to begin their case.

Vybz Kartel’s legal team, lead by Tom Tavares-Finson, also say they are ready to proceed.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is on trial for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. The “Benz Punany” deejay, who has been behind bars since September of 2011, has maintained his innocence.

Police say Kartel and his co-accused killed Williams over a missing firearm.

If convicted he could be sentenced to life in prison.
